Vigouroux charges to 2nd Overall in Tunisia
30.04.2008
Eric Vigouroux moved in to second place in the Rallye of Tunisia yesterday and maintains his first position in his class. Despite losing a few minutes after an incident with a tree in a narrow section, Vigouroux managed to finish forth putting him in second place overall.
In another twist, todays stage has been cancelled as not all of the competitors had arrived at the bivouac last night. This is particularly frustrating for Vigouroux because todays stage was a limited assistance stage with only one hour allowed for maintenance after yesterdays stage before entering Parc Fermee. As Vigouroux’s car was running perfectly, he had the opportunity to push hard whilst others would have had to slow because of the limited preparations they were allowed. In addition, todays stage was to have been the longest in the Rallye at nearly 1000 km with 635 km of timed stage so the best opportunity to catch up time for teams with experienced navigators such as Alexandre Winocq who has years of experience with Vigouroux in their Prosystem Racing Chevrolet.
Second Toyo racer, Kenjiro Shinozuka in his Technosport Nissan finished 11th and now lies 9th overall and 5th in his class 2 hours.
As there is no timed stage today, these positions will remain the same going in to Thursdays stage with just three stages to go until Saturdays conclusion to the Rallye.
