Vigouroux takes Second in Tunisia Rallye
05.05.2008
Eric Vigouroux, in his Pro-System Racing Chevrolet fitted with TOYO Open Country MT-R tires has taken second place in the gruelling Rallye de Tunisie.Vigouroux finished just 4 minutes and 18 seconds behind winner Dominique Housieaux.
The final stage was a close battle with Vigouroux needing to overcome a 12 second deficit to win. At the first checkpoint, Vigouroux was leading the stage, a tantalizing 11 seconds faster than Housieaux. Unfortunately, Housieaux’s additional speed counted in the second part of the stage and he finished the stage in second position to Vigouroux’s fourth.
The result going down to the last stage of the last day meant tense, nail biting drama for all the race fans watching the Rallye either on TV or on the official NPO website. Such a close finish, after more than 4.000kms was an unexpected bonus.
Throughout the race, Vigouroux's TOYO Open Country MT-R tires performed faultlessly allowing him to concentrate on racing.

Kenjiro Shinozuka, in his Technosport Nissan, also running on TOYO Open Country MT Race tires finished the Rallye in eighth place overall.
Thirty eight cars were officially classed as finishers and both Toyo pilots were in the top ten. A very strong result demonstrating just how good the TOYO tires are compared with other tire brands who have many more years racing development.
Toyo plan to make available 235/85 R 16 Open Country MT-R (race specification) tires for Rally Raid competitors early in 2009. Demand is anticipated to be high based on their performance.
