Qualifying has commenced for the fourth TOYO TIRES 24hours of Dubai. As in every year since its inauguration, TOYO TIRES are Title Sponsors of the gruelling 24 hour race demonstrating their commitment to endurance racing.
The Dubai Autodrome is currently the scene of frantic activity as more than 80 teams take to the track for the start of the endurance season’s opening race.
The race itself starts on Friday January 9 at 14.00 and, as in previous years, will be a truly International event with drivers from over thirty different countries participating. The entry list includes names such as ex F1 driver Johnny Herbert, Touring Car drivers Roland Asch, James Kaye and Kurt Thiim and GP2 driver Ho Pin Tung.
Twenty different makes of car will participate in the race from a Ford Fiesta ST to Porsche 997 GT3s. Included in this line up is the Audi CR8 project race car conceived and developed by Creventic from the Audi R8 road car. The CR8 is fitted with TOYO TIRES Proxes RS1 slick tires, 245/640 R 18 front and 285/680 R18 rear. This unique car has attracted significant attention and should put in a strong performance.
Also racing will be the Mitsubishi UK Evo X equipped with the latest specification of TOYO TIRES Proxes RS1 in 245/640 R 18. The car has only raced once before and with further development is now expected to perform strongly in its class.
TOYO TIRES also have available Proxes RR1 racing wet tires but unlike last year, where unseasonal rain caused headaches for the teams, the forecast is for sun throughout the race.
Whoever wins it will be a huge opportunity for spectators to get to know TOYO TIRES with branding all over the circuit and on the windscreen of all the participating cars. TV coverage by Marlin media is anticipated to give extremely wide World coverage and the print press are anticipated to write several thousand column inches as last year also.
