Robby Gordon closes in on Top 5
08.01.2009
Robby Gordon, in his TOYO TIRES shod Monster Energy Hummer H3 took 3rd place in yesterday's 5th stage from Neuguen to San Rafael.
Despite a belt failure, Gordon was able to finish just 4 minutes and 12 seconds behind new race lead Nasser Al-Attiyah in his factory BMW.
In fact Gordon led the race at one point before a strap securing the spare wheels broke allowing the wheel to fall onto a vital belt forcing a short stop.
The Hummer suffers from greater restriction this year losing 15mph from the top speed so the stages up to this point have favoured the faster cars. Todays section, twisty and techical is ideal for the TOYO TIRES Monster Energy Hummer as it focuses on skill and grip rather than outright speed.
This stellar performance, despite problems means Robby Gordon moves up another place to 7th overall with his sights set firmly on the top 5.
