Gordon moves to 3rd with Open Country M/T
15.01.2009
After an extraordinary day at the Dakar, Robby Gordon in his TOYO TIRES shod Hummer H3 has moved to third overall behind the VWs of De Villiers and Miller.
Race leader Carlos Sainz was forced to witdraw afer a crash in a ravibne injured his navigator. Gordon was charging hard to catch the Mitsubishi of Roma but then a technical problem forced Roma to stop allowing gordon to move from 4th place to 3rd overall.
At 1hour and 18 minutes behind the lead, he has it all to do if he wants to win. However, anyone who knows Robby Gordon knows hwe will never stop trying and more extraordinary developments could occur in the last three stages.
De Villiers leads Miller by just 2 minutes and 35 seconds and unless team orders are given, both drivers will compete hard to win.

Meanwhile, further down the field in the second Hummer H3 , Vigouroux moves inexorably closer to a top ten position. Beset with cruel luck costing him five hours of race time and a six hour penalty from the organisers for arriving late at a checkpoint, Vigouroux has battled back into contention.
16th after stage 10, having been as low as 79th place, Vigouroux is pushing hard to make the top ten. He has to claw back more than threee hours to achieve this remarkable feat but dont bet against it. Two Hummers in the top ten at the connclusion would be a fantastic result for TOYO TIRES and the whole team. A podium and a top ten place are now a real possibilty for Team Dakar USA.
