Polish Drift Cup 2009 Final
12.10.2009
The last weekend of September saw Poznań Race Track become a magnet for drift fans as it hosted the finale of the 2009 Polish Drift Championship. The last round was also the decider with two drivers, Przemysław Jańczak and Paweł Trela head to head in the professional Super Drift Championship coming into the final.

The championship has two leagues: professional Super Drift Series and amateur Drift Series. The standard of driving in both has increased as the competition gets fiercer. The close final, coupled with the exciting driving styles led to a highly charged atmosphere all weekend.

The two drivers finally met under the baking sun for their showdown. Before this, both had brushed aside strong competition in the eliminator rounds and the final 16 Tsuiso challenges. The final run of the final round would be the deciding match. After a season of drifting, everything would be decided on this last head to head between Przemek and Paweł

Five thousand spectators gathered at the Poznań circuit to watch the duel of the season reach its climax. Jańczak in his BMW M3 versus Trela in his Nissan 200SX with RB25DET Skyline engine. TOYO TIRES sponsor Jańczak in the championship who went into the final with a distinct tire advantage. To even up the competition, TOYO TIRES Poland distributor Trade Stomil donated a set of Proxes R888 tires to his rival so the final match would be a true test of driving skill. The superior tire performance of the Proxes R888 was neutralized meaning the best driver would win.

The result was a victory for Przemysław who took the match and the 2009 Polish Drift Championship. Jańczak’s win makes it two years running that TOYO TIRES have been the tire of choice of the Polish Drift Champion.

If future seasons are anywhere near as close fought as 2009, drift fans’ nerves will be stretched to breaking point while the standard of driving will be pushed ever higher.
