Toyo Tires renews partnership with the AIG Women’s Open
1 Aug 2022
Toyo Tires has been a partner of the AIG Women’s Open since 2019 when it was played at Woburn in England. The partnership continued in 2020 at Royal Troon in Scotland and Carnoustie in 2021. This year’s championship takes place at Muirfield, Scotland from August 4 to 7.
TOYO TIRES are delivering another sweet drive…but this time on the fairways of Scotland.
For the fourth consecutive year the Japanese tire manufacturer is partnering the AIG Women’s Open, a major golf championship, as a Patron and the Official Tire of the AIG Women’s Open. This year’s championship will take place at Muirfield, Scotland from August 4 to 7.
It will be the first time since 2019 that the tournament will be fully open to spectators, following the limited numbers allowed to attend last year. The AIG Women’s Open is one of five major championships in women’s golf and is a major sporting event featuring the best female professional players from around the world.
It is an annual championship held at world class courses across the UK. Muirfield is hosting the event for the first time. Last year’s AIG Women's Open, held at Carnoustie and won by Anna Nordqvist, marked the 21st playing of the event as a major on the women's circuit, and the 45th edition overall. Nordqvist is one of 11 past Champions in the AIG Women’s Open field at Muirfield.
As a partner of the AIG Women’s Open, Toyo Tires has been on board since 2019 when it was played at Woburn in England, in 2020 at Royal Troon Golf Club in Scotland and Carnoustie Golf Links in 2021. Toyo Tires will have its coverage off to a tee and will actively support this major sporting event on its social media channels.
About the AIG Women’s Open
First established in 1976 and now owned by The R&A, the AIG Women’s Open is one of five Major championships in women’s golf. Each year 144 players compete for the championship trophy with the low amateur, who plays 72 holes, awarded the Smyth Salver. Future venues will include Walton Heath (2023), St Andrews (2024) and Royal Porthcawl (2025). The Championship is the showpiece for The R&A’s commitment to growing women and girls’ golf via the Women in Golf Charter. The AIG Women’s Open aims to champion the changing face of women’s golf; to inspire, engage and provoke in order to challenge perceptions that will shape the future of the sport.
