1st Place at 2023 Baja 400
20 Sep 2023
For the third year running, Bryce Menzies, in his Toyo Tires equipped Trophy Truck, has won the Baja 400. The 2023 baja 400 victory marks another milestone for Menzies after winning the Baja 500 and Mexican 1000 Races earlier this year.
Adding to this success, Toyo Tires equipped trucks won all three trophy truck classes. Gustavo Vildósola Sr. secured another victory in the Trophy Truck Legends Class over the weekend. Meanwhile, Jason McNeil delivered a spectacular performance, claiming the top spot in the Trophy Truck Spec class. The outstanding success of Toyo Tires’ drivers translates into a commanding lead in championship points across all three Trophy Truck categories this season. With this remarkable achievement, each driver is now poised to begin the upcoming SCORE Baja 1000 race in November from pole position, setting the stage for an exhilarating showdown.
Menzies started in 6th position in his #7 Red Bull / Toyo Tires / KMC Wheels AWD Mason Motorsports Trophy Truck. Gaining positions throughout the first half of the race, Menzies took the lead of the challenging 385-mile course. After losing his truck’s front wheel drive around race mile 230, Menzies was forced to rely on his seasoned experience to hold off the chasing pack. With immense determination throughout the latter half of the race, Menzies clocked a winning time of 7 hours, 53 minutes, and 54 seconds. He relied on the championship-winning Toyo Open Country M/T-R tires to get him to the finish line.
In addition to Bryce Menzies third straight Baja 400 win, Team Toyo drivers have also won the Baja 500 five times and the Baja 1000 four times: Robby Gordon (2006), BJ Baldwin (2012 and 2013), and Alan Ampudia in (2019). Menzies has also won the fSan Felipe 250, the Mexican 1000, the BITD Vegas to Reno, and the Toyo Tires Desert Challenge at King of the Hammers.
